Robb Stone: "This artist! He was a classmate of mine at SAIC's Advanced Painting studios. We were all stunned by the hungry vigor of his practice. Promethean. Fearless, innovative, often shy, inhibited by deeply felt modesty but simultaneously bristling with energy and steely resolve to make work. We called him "the machine". His was true commitment, both to create and destroy. He wasn't afraid to fail--though it hurt him when he thought he had.His tears of frustration fell like rain-sprouting new ideas and radical rethinking. He didn't throw anything away. Mistakes were torn apart and reused, for their parts. This process showed itself, literally, where fragments of older work were embedded within the new. His ambition: an impossible balance of formalist pastiche, abstraction, and unrepentant representational imagery-its like a crazy dream that takes you everywhere. This artist is playing chicken, with chaos, and poetry. He's a ring-master, and his Pierrot walks the high-wire. Above a shark tank. With no safety net. Blindfolded. Disillusioned.Doomed. But always resurrected again; sometimes whole, sometimes just in pieces. And you can't get enough.  More more more!"
